3. Schooling Support

 There is a schooling support network in place in Yamagata City to help with schooling material fees, school lunch fees, etc. for elementary and junior high school students.
 Guardians who want to apply should consult with teachers at their child's school and complete the appropriate forms. Explanations will be given by the Board of Education regarding instructions for completing the forms.

Schooling support eligibility

 Anyone with worries about daily life and who meets one of the following criteria is eligible for schooling support

  1. Parents or Guardians of students who receive welfare
  2. Parents or Guardians who the Yamagata City Board of Education recognized as living in poverty or the approximate equivalent to it even if they are not on welfare. (Please consult your child’s homeroom teacher.)

Application procedures

  1. Application forms are available at every school. Applications for renewal and first applications will be done at the school attended by the child. However, in the case of a transfer, please complete application forms during the meeting with the Board of Education.
  2. Approvals are decided from January to February in every school. Contact the school attended by the child for details on the application period and deadline. It is possible, however, to apply for schooling support in the middle of the school year if the family situation changes and financial support becomes necessary. Make sure to undertake the necessary procedures in advance.
